About Department

At present, the Department of History offers Ph.D. and four semester M.A. course. The department is making new strides towards exploring the inter-disciplinary historical research focusing on 'History from below' with a team of dedicated faculty and faculty and research scholars. The curriculum of M.A. programme is designed to impart rigorous training to students on various themes of composite history, socio-economics, political and cultural history of ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary India with an emphasis on the historic of the marginalized communities. Besides these the department also offers a few non-Indian history courses. The main objectives of the department is to produce socially sensitive citizens with an appropriate historical understanding.
