About Department

The Department of Information and Technology (DIT) established in the year 2006-2007. The Department offers three course including M.Sc. course in Information Technology, M.Sc. courses in Information Security and M.Tech program in software Engineering . All courses are full time Postgraduate / Professional program, developed to assist and encourage graduate to build on their knowledge in Information Technology years (4 semesters) M. Sc. course in Information Technology. It is developed to assist and encourage graduate to build on their under graduate knowledge in Information Technology. The Department also offers PhD programme in Information Technology. The Department has established a Computing Lab. An Internet facility is also available. Recently, Department has procured Wireless Access Points and Wireless PCI cards in order to make the Department fully Wi-Fi.

The final semester students are motivated to develop real time projects in reputed organizations. Seminars and Group Discussions are a regular feature of DIT. Course curriculum of M. Sc. (IT) has been prepared on consultation with the industry professional and practitioners. We are planning to modify/update course curriculum regularly in consultation with the experts to abrupt our students with the latest development in the area of Information Technology. The Department has well qualified faculty members having live interaction and collaboration with other National and International institutions. They all are actively engaged in R&D activities. The faculty members have published number of articles in National and International Journals and Proceedings. Most of the faculty members are the member of various bodies/association of their area of expertise.

Department has executed two Major Research Project entitled “Quantifying Security in Early Stage of Development Life Cycle - An Object-Oriented Software Perspective” and research project entitled “Symptoms and Sensations Due to Cellular Telephone Uses among the Urban and Rural Population of Uttar Pradesh: A risk assessment” which was funded by UGC and UPCST, Uttar Pradesh respectively. Dr. R. A. Khan was PI of projects. At present, 03 Major Research Project has been sanctioned to the Department by UGC and CST, UP.

The Department aims to promote modern area of Information Technology to the highest level of excellence. The environment in the Department is highly conducive for building of solid foundation of knowledge, hands-on experience, development of personality, creativity and motivation to keep students and faculty members abreast with the latest development in the field of IT. In addition to the academic development, proper attention is also given towards the personal development of students in co-curricular activities. In the Department currently 10 Ph. D. scholars are working in the various field of software engineering. Out of which, three of them have given their pre-Ph.D. seminar. In a very short span of tine the DIT has carved a niche for itself among the reputed institutions of the country imparting quality IT education.

Evolution

Teaching- Major Focus of the department has been on imparting knowledge and developing skills related to the Information Technology. Case method of teaching is used to supplement the lectures delivered by the faculty to the students of Information Technology. The students are exposed to industry through industrial visit, summer training and project work.

Research- Heavy emphasis is laid on fundamental and applied research in different areas of Information Technology. The Department has been undertaking major as well as minor research project sponsored by various funding body (like UGC, UPCST etc...) at state as well as national level.

Objectives Of The Department

The main objectives of the Department are:

  • To provide professional education and training to all students, irrespective of caste, creed, religion, province, faith, sex, political affiliation and financial status.

  • To develop knowledge and skills to the student through teaching, training and research in the field of Information Technology.

  • To enhance and refine skills of executive through training and solve the problem of public and business organisation through consultancy.

  • To develop close relationship with software industries for providing practical exposure to the student through summer training, seminar, workshops and special lecture.

  • To conduct and encourage research in all area of information technology and computer applications.

The Department is equipped with a computing lab of latest configuration PC’s, multimedia enhanced classroom, research room and other sitting rooms.

We envision creating global IT professionals who inspire a vision to set positive paradigm of action and who have the will and the strength to make a small difference to the larger cause of humanity.

We also visualise that Department of Information Technology would in near future be an Institute of Academic Excellence known for its total commitment to superiority in technical education and research with a holistic concern for quality in life, environment, society and ethics.

The Mission of the Department of Information Technology is to provide quality education by innovating and continuously improving upon the discipline of Information Technology through advance method of training, meaningful research and intimate relations with industry, business and other institutions in the country.

  • One week Workshop on Research Methods in IT during 22nd -28th September 2014
    Details

    The Department has organised one week workshop on Research Methods in IT. The objectives of the workshop were:

    1. To Point out the relevance of rigorous statistical and probabilistic techniques to pressing software engineering concern.

    2. To motivate new researchers from computer field to tackle problem with relevance for software development, as well as to suggest a statistical approach to software engineering.

    3. Adopting exploratory data analysis and visualization techniques.

    4. Developing methods of analysis to cope with qualitative variables.

  • Two Days Workshop on RAD using Oracle IDS during 30th -31st October, 2014
    Details

    The workshop was intended to provide an opportunity to the participants to upgrade their knowledge in recent advances in Information Technology with special focus on research issues in cloud computing. The workshop has covered the following:

    1. Technologies for creating Rapid Application Development (RAD) Using Oracle Ids.

    2. Tools for building Rapid Application Development.

    3. Guidelines for introducing Rapid Application Development using Oracle Ids courses and initiating innovative R&D projects.

  • Community Service at Bijnaur on 15th November 2014

    Information and Communicational Technology (ICT) has the potential to overcome some of the possible challenges, enhances the delivery of services at much lower cost than current resources. It has the ability to empower individuals and organizations, connect communities and drive social change when used to its full potential. On November 15, 2014 the ICT awareness programme was spearheaded by the Department of Information Technology, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow among the Villagers of Bijnaur, and other stakeholders at Bijnaur, Sarojni Nagar, Lucknow with the aim to driving the awareness and usage of ICT services, content and applications, increasing the ICT literacy, educating the masses and businesses on the potential of ICT t and to drive competitiveness, efficiency, transparency as well as civic participation between Bijnaur peoples. Leading the ICT literacy activity, the DIT team organized an ICT program between the people from Bijnaur, Sarojni Nagar, Lucknow wherein the students of Department of Information Technology presented a Nukar-Natak on E-Education, E-Reservation, Online Shopping, Online Government Scheme, Kisan Call Center and ATM Security. 40 students were participated in this program and also they have presented no. of Poster, Slide, and presentation about Usage of the computer etc.
